Getting Started

The ultimate guide to getting you started.

You're probably lost. Hey I'm your guide for today. My name's Cheese, I'll walk you through everything you need to know to get started and fully enrolled to Cheese.lab Industries and some extra tidbits you may not already know!

Direct yourselves to the Discord server if you haven't already, then click the #enroll channel please to get started!

ACCEPTING THE CODE OF CONDUCT

gif tutorial

Firstly, you need to read and accept our global Code of Conduct here.

Please note: The special phrase may change at any time so make sure you've read and checked the Code of Conduct first before attempting to join.

Not reading and accepting the Code of Conduct may result in you being kicked.

Once you've agreed to the Code of Conduct, ContinuityBot will assign you a new role called "Enrolled" which will hoist you up in the list to let you know you've been enrolled. You will also see a message with instructions.

THE TEAM WILL THEN ENROLL YOU FULLY

In the gif above, I demonstrated that the user can ping the Assistant role for assistance to enroll them fully. I then helped out Test Subject by adding a "Student" role to them, which will then give them access to Cheese.lab Academy.

In a typical enrollment scenario, we'd do all that, but ask you questions like:

  • What platforms are you on currently?
  • What programming languages do you want to learn?
  • What editing software do you use to write code?
  • Do you use any command line interfaces?

Typically the team would manually enroll you so you feel like you're talking to an actual human and not a programmable bot.

OPTING IN/OUT OF DIFFERENT ZONES

After you have been enrolled, you might be wondering where the gaming and DIY activity zones are. Well, they're optional zones so you can opt in and out of them at any time.

To opt in to a zone:

.optin [gaming|diy]

To opt out of a zone:

.optout [gaming|diy]

RECEIVING NOTIFICATIONS FOR NEWS

You can optin to receiving notifications for news items now. This minimizes the need of the team using @everyone and @here. This is a much better way of receiving notifications for news.

To opt into receiving news:

.optin notifications

To opt out of receiving news:

.optout notifications

THAT IS THE BASICS

Any questions you may have, just toss them in #campus-grounds. We're fairly active and will answer your queries as soon as we can.

To check who's on duty at the time of your query, just type:

.duty

in #campus-grounds or more specifically #artifical-intelligence. This will then show you who's on duty and most likely to answer your questions.

That's it for me! Stay cheesy. <3
